Dinner Venues

Casa Pereira, Valletta
The house at 224, Republic Street, Valletta know as ‘Casa Pereira’ was built around the year 1600. There were several Knights of the Pereira family living in Valletta in the eighteenth century, most of whom were related to Grand Master Emauel Pinto da Fonseca. Among those recorded are: Fra Emauel de Pereira, Fra Luigi Periera, Fra Jose Pereira, Fra Francesco Guedes Pereira and Fra Giuseppe Pereira de Cotinho Pinto.  The latter, Pinto’s uncle, lived in a palatial house, known as Palazzo Briffa, in West Street.  The Order’s records refer to “la scesa ove abita il Bali Pereyra,….strada laterale inferiore al Monistero di Santa Caterina”. Another entry refers to “la casa abitata dal Vend a Bli di Lesa Pereyra”.

Casino Maltaise, Valletta
Set in Malta’s historical Capital City and overlooking the famous Pjazza Regina and also the President’s Palace, this unique venue was originally used as the treasury of the Knights of St. John. Today the exclusive Casino Maltaise with a history of noble visitors, retains most of its original 16 century features. A dress code of no jeans is rigorously kept (even on inspection visits). This venue is situated in the centre of the city and therefore buses cannot stop in front of the main door – a 10 minute walk is required. Alternatively we can transfer the delegates in smaller vehicles.

Castello Zamitello, Outskirts of Mgarr
This unique 16th century castle lies on the outskirts of Gnejna beach. Built in Norman style, it was originally used to guard raids by corsairs as indicated by the four guard turrets adorning its façade. The ambience of this venue is ideal for special events such as Gala Dinners, Maltese and medieval themed dinners. With two wooden conservatories, a beautifully landscaped garden is undoubtedly an ideal venue for Banqueting with that little bit more.

The Corinthia Room, Attard
This 100 year old villa, which was recently restored, is situated in Attard in the centre of the island, adjacent to the Corinthia Palace. It’s splendid décor bare the hallmark of excellence. Also situated in this tranquil area is the President’s winter residence.

Limestone Heritage, Siggiewi.
The Limestone Heritage Park & Gardens is a celebration of Malta’s vibrant history and unique stone resource. Located in the traditional Maltese town of Siggiewi, this award-winning tourist attraction offers the visitor beautiful surroundings. The Limestone Heritage Park & Gardens can accommodate up to 600 guests (standing) and 400 (seated) outside, as well as 250 (standing) and 120 (seated) indoors. A retractable see through roof allows the outside areas to be used throughout the whole year.

Magazino, Valletta
This fine venue was built by the Knights of Malta in 1727. It is situated at the Valletta Waterfront and proudly displays its historical features from its glorious background. It’s original use was to store the grain offloaded from the ships in the harbour. Eventually formed part of the old power station in the area.  Recently restored this venue has been turned into an attractive locality.

Mediterranean Conference Centre, The La Vallette Hall Valletta
The grand architectural style of this historic building, the Mediterranean Conference Centre, with its wide long halls, its intricately vaulted ceilings, its rich stone work, combine to provide a singularly rich and striking atmosphere. This is original building of the hospital of the Knights of the Order of St John. Today it houses a comprehensive conference centre together with various rooms and halls ideal for functions. Can host 900 delegates on round tables. For smaller groups the hall can be split with a red curtain.

Mediterranean Conference Centre, The Exhibition Hall (Sacra Infermeria), Valletta
Situated just above the La Vallette hall, this hall forms part of the original building which was the hospital of the Knights of the Order of St John. Often used as a welcome drink and/or after party for dinners in the hall below. Can host 1100 delegates on round tables. For smaller groups the hall can be split with a curtain.

Notre Dame Gate, Cottonera
Built by Grand Master Fra Nicholas Cottoner in 1675 as part of the 9km long Cottonera defensive line. This gate was originally named after Our Lady of Graces — Notre Dame de la Grace in French. This may have been influenced by the gate’s position overlooking the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Graces in Zabbar. The present form of this gate was completed in 1715.

Palazzo Parisio, Naxxar
This magnificent palazzo, located in one of the oldest villages of Malta – Naxxar – is rich in originality and houses beautiful gardens, majestic drawing rooms and banquet halls. The choice of a true connoisseur – definitely Malta’s top venue.

Razzett L-Abjad (The White Farmhouse) San Gwann
An original typical Maltese farmhouse over 200 years old within a unique setting and idyllic surroundings. The building is abundant in character and tradition and the reception area, which is cut in rock, formed part of the original stables. Razzett L ‘Abjad is surrounded by a vineyard and orange grove and can cater for both indoor and outdoor functions. With an overall area of 2 acres, the venue is equipped to handle any type of activity. The indoor hall has recently been refurbished and can equally be used for casual dining as well as Gala dinners.

Villa Arrigo, Naxxar
An imposing Villa – with spacious gardens and halls tastefully furnished with genuine antique furniture. From its terraces one has a bird’s eye view of St. Paul’s Bay, Bahar ic-Caghaq and Burmarrad. The gardens with the fairy lights and floodlighting present a relaxed atmosphere; the splash of the water from the fountain adds to the garden’s serenity.

Villa Bologna, Attard
Within the walls of Villa Bologna the visitor will discover a world far removed from the bustle of Malta’s tourist traffic. Garden enthusiasts can enjoy a historic Mediterranean garden where the plants and beautiful fountains provide a perfect setting for the villa.  Villa Bologna was built in 1745 by Fabrizio Grech as a dowry for the wedding of his daughter Maria Teresa to Nicolas Perdicomati Bologna, second Count della Catena.

Xara Lodge, limits of Rabat
The Xara Lodge is a new and exciting multi-purpose venue located in the countryside offering breath-taking views with Mdina in the background, modern amenities, and a number of food and beverage outlets. The well-known Management Team and Staff Compliment at The Xara Palace Relais & Châteaux will be extending their expertise to The Xara Lodge.

A number of dining options are available both indoors and al fresco, catering for groups ranging from 20 guests to 750 guests. The Xara Lodge also has conference and meeting facilities ranging from 10 to 320 delegates and can also host specialised activities such as product launches, fashion shows, exhibitions, and other corporate events.

The Lower Barracca Garden
Perched on the three-cornered bastion near the Mediterranean Conference Centre, this garden is similar to the one on the Upper Barracca. Its high position, overlooking the harbour entrance, commands an extensive panoramic view of Fort Ricasoli, Bighi Palace, Fort St. Angelo, and the creeks of Birgu and Kalkara.

Among trees and flowerbeds in the centre of the garden stands the monument, in the form of a Greek Doric temple, to the memory of Sir Alexander John Ball. Sir Alexander was one of the leaders of the Maltese insurgents against the French in 1798. When the French troops surrendered, and the British annexed the Maltese Islands in 1800, Sir Alexander was nominated Commissioner and he later became the first British Governor of Malta. He died here in 1810.

The monument was erected soon after Sir Alexander’s death. According to the inscription on the base, it was restored by public subscription in 1884. The solid ramparts here fall sheer to the harbour waters beneath. A stone parapet and an iron railing around the edge provide ample room for visitors to stand and admire the enchanting view.

Old Saluting Battery (Valletta)

Valletta Waterfront, Valletta Cruise Terminal
This award winning development and restoration has brought back to life the historical Grand Harbour. The Valletta Waterfront invites you to discover its dining experience along the water’s edge with breath taking background were once the Knights of St. John and European merchants used to unload their wares.

Villa Bighi, Rinella
This is an old fort, first stone laid in 1675, overlooking the grand harbour and as it is facing Valletta, it has a magnificent view of the capital city, which has its fortifications beautifully lit up at night. Its use in olden times was as a watch point to the entrance to the Grand harbour and as a naval hospital. The magnificent building rises on the promontory that juts into the Grand harbour between Rinella Bay and Kalkara Creek.

Arches Restaurant, Mellieha This is a classical restaurant considered to be one of the finest in Malta and a formal service to match. Popular and well-established restaurant, elegant and unique. Has a selection of International dishes and a highly recommended wine cellar with a gratifying range of high quality growths to precede and compliment the dishes created by the Master Chef.

Barracuda Restaurant, St. Julian’s – This restaurant achieves consistently high ratings for its food, service and ambience.  Overlooking Balluta and Spinola Bay, the restaurant is poised in the water’s edge with marvellous views from within the restaurant.  Originally the drawing room of a prominent early 18th century seaside villa, the dining room retains many of its original characteristics and consequently the building itself is also an architectural attraction.

Chophouse, Tigne Point Sliema – The Chophouse, perched above the foreshore at Tigne’ Point, just yards away from the 18th century Fort Tigne’, offers fantastic and breath taking views of Valletta. As it name implies meat reigns supreme in this restaurant, although there is always some fish on Malta’s largest charcoal open grill.

Trattoria AD1530, Mdina – located in one of the main squares of the Silent City and forms part of the highly acclaimed Xara Palace Hotel.  It is a typical trattoria, decorated with authentic memorabilia dating back to the early 16th and 17th centuries and occupies two levels for dining.  The lower ground floor and outdoor seating area on the square provide an equally relaxed and comfortable atmosphere.

The Villa Brasserie, St. Julian’s – This fabulous 19th century villa offers a number of dining options in a setting of modern indoor design with traditional outdoors. Ix-Xlukkajr, Marsaxlokk - This family run restaurant is situated on the waterfront and on the main square of the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Typically decorated, this restaurant strives to offer its patrons a unique dining experience, combining homemade cooking with Maltese hospitality. Being situated in the fishing village, this restaurant specializes in fresh fish dishes but other palates are also catered for.  For the summer months food can be served outside in the square.
